Humphries, once a lottery pick, has had a disappointing five seasons in the NBA, with averages of 4.2 points and 3.0 rebounds. He’s been productive when given a chance, but his defense has been poor and minutes have been hard to come by. In Dallas, coach Rick Carlisle is giving Humphries a chance to be an “energizer,” and he’s responded with 14.5 points and 7.7 rebounds. Problem is, Dirk Nowitzki, Shawn Marion and Drew Gooden are on the roster.
